Nigeria’s ambassador to France, Kayode Laro buried in Ilorin

The final resting place of Nigeria’s late ambassador to France, Kayode Laro, was his residence in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State.

On Wednesday, his remains were laid to rest shortly after arriving at the General Tunde Idiagbon International Airport.

The casket enveloped in the nation’s green and white colors as a tribute to his devoted service to Nigeria, was transported to the state via a Nigerian Air Force aircraft.

The late ambassador was interred at his family compound in Ilorin, following the Islamic traditions for burial. Laro, who was commended for his significant “contributions to human capital development in Nigeria and especially in Kwara State,” passed away on Friday night, as reported by The PUNCH.

Sheikh Mohammed Bashiru Salihu, the Chief Imam of Ilorin, led the funeral prayer. Among the attendees at the funeral procession was the state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

Others present included Nigeria’s Ambassador to France (Economic and Consular Affairs), Muazam Nayaya; Deputy Head of Mission in France, Tunde Mustapha; and members of the AbdulRazaq family of Ilorin, led by the governor’s elder brother and Mutawalle of Ilorin, Dr. Alimi AbdulRazaq.

Expressing his condolences, the governor conveyed his shock at the passing of Ambassador Laro and prayed for Allah’s forgiveness for him and for his soul to be granted Al-Jannah Firdaus.
