Kidnapped Nasarawa Monarch, Wife Regain Freedom

Nasarawa’s Abducted First Class Chief, Jubril Mamman Waziri, and his spouse, Hajiya Sa’adatu Waziri, have been freed from captivity.

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State revealed the news of the release on Monday in Lafia. The Chief of Gurku Community in Karu Local Government Area, along with his wife, had been abducted by gunmen from their palace on August 6.

The incident took place around 10 p.m., during which armed kidnappers took the royal leader and his wife, Hajiya Sa’adatu.

Residing in the mountainous region of Gurku, about 10 kilometers from Mararaba near the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, the first-class traditional rulers found themselves in a challenging situation.

Local residents reported that the attackers invaded the community under the cover of night, taking advantage of the sleeping hours to approach the chief’s residence and abduct him and his wife.

The police command immediately initiated a search operation with the intent of rescuing the traditional ruler and his wife.

Nonetheless, during the swearing-in ceremony of new commissioners, Governor Sule confirmed the release of the Chief and his spouse on Monday. He assured me that both were in good health and had been reunited with their families.

However, it remains uncertain whether a ransom was paid prior to the monarch and his wife being released.
