The Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has submitted a list of commissioner-nominees to the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation, which includes four former cabinet members and 14 others.
During the House plenary on Monday, Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, announced the names of the commissioner-nominees. He highlighted that AbdulRazaq followed the provisions of Section 14, Subsection 4 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Section 192, Subsection 125 of the constitution.
Among the former commissioners who made the list are Hajia Saadat Modibbo-Kawu (Ilorin South LGA), Senior Suleiman (Ilorin West LGA), Olaitan Buraimo (Oyun LGA), and Aliyu Sabi (Baruten LGA).
Additional nominees include Abdulganiyu Abdulazeez (Asa), Sheu Ndanusa (Edu), Afolasade Kemi (Ekiti), Dr Segun Ogunsola (Ifelodun), Abdulqowiy Olododo (Ilorin East), Hauwa Nuru (Ilorin West), Damilola Yusuf (Isin), Oloruntosin Thomas (Isin), and Bola Olukoju (Irepodun).
The remaining nominees are Abubakar Abdullahi (Kaiama), John Bello (Moro), Dr Amina Al-Imam (Offa), Dr Mary Ayinde (Oke-Ero), and Usman Yinusa (Patigi).
The Speaker instructed all the nominees to provide 35 copies of their curriculum vitae to the Clerk of the House by the close of work on Tuesday. The screening process is set to begin on Wednesday.
Additionally, the House approved the Governor’s request for the appointment of 10 Special Advisers following a letter received and read during the plenary.
Governor AbdulRazaq emphasized that the appointments were aligned with Section 196 Subsection 1 of the Constitution. He highlighted that appointing dedicated individuals with suitable experience and skills to serve would facilitate efficient and seamless governance, contributing to the distribution of democratic benefits across the entire state.
