Deputy Senate President’s Aides Seek Journalists’ Support On Service Delivery

The aides to the Deputy President of the Senate (DSP), Senator Barau Jibrin, have urged journalists covering Senate activities to support their principal in the discharge of his duties.

They also emphasized the importance of cooperation in the coverage and reporting of activities at the office of the Deputy Presiding Officer of the Senate.

A group of aides, led by Professor Muhammad Ibn Abdullahi, who is the Chief of Staff to the Deputy President of the Senate, visited the Senate Press Centre at the National Assembly complex in Abuja on Thursday. During the tour, they expressed their interest in working collaboratively with the Senate Press Corps (SPC) and providing mutual support while serving their principal.

The call for support and cooperation from the journalists is aimed at fostering a productive relationship and facilitating accurate and comprehensive coverage of the Senate’s activities.

Through this partnership, both parties hope to enhance transparency and public understanding of the Senate’s work and the role of the Deputy President in legislative affairs.

The Chief of Staff, who spoke on behalf of other aides, said: “We have come to familiarize ourselves with you as strategic partners in the discharge of our duties to our principal, the Deputy President of the Senate, and in particular, on coverage and reportage of activities at the office of the DSP.

“Our principal is a friend of the media and will cherish a good working relationship with you.

“His Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, is one of you, having covered the Senate as a journalist from 2015 to 2019.

“Our offices are open at all times to you all, for whatever useful information is needed and access to the DSP for official matters in the interest of Nigeria and Nigerians.”

Idris Ajimobi, the Special Adviser to the Deputy President of the Senate on Special Duties, was also included in the team.
