I'll be ready to face Ireland Republic-Ohale allays injury fears

By David Kabiyesi

Super Falcons defender, Osinachi Ohale has calmed frayed nerves of Nigerians over the state of her injury, and has assured her teeming fans that she is fit as fiddle ahead of Ireland clash.

Coach Randy Waldrum had feared the worst after the defender was hit on her rib during a goal mouth melee that led to Nigeria’s second goal. But Ohale has told Nigerians that she is ok and would be ready to face Ireland in the groups final match.

“I think I am very much okay as I did not pick up any injury, yes I am fine,” she told UK-based Nigerian journalist, Osasu Obayiuwana at the Lang Park Stadium.

On what changed in the team during the build-up to the Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, Ohale said she and her fellow team-mates decided to give their very best.

“We all agreed that we did not perform well at last year’s African Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) but prior to the World Cup, we all told each other that we needed to step up our game,” she said.

“We decided that we would make a name for ourselves in Australia and it is not going to be the same thing as usual and also to show the world what we have and what we can do.”
