Man decapitates 84-year-old person, dies while resisting arrest

In the Iperu community, Remo North Local Government Area of Ogun state, a tragic incident occurred where a 32-year-old man named David Shodola, suspected to be mentally challenged, beheaded an 84-year-old man, Alfred Opadipe, on Friday.

The situation escalated further as Shodola violently resisted arrest and attacked police officers with a machete, resulting in his death.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Omotola Odutola, confirmed the distressing event to the press in Abeokuta on Friday.

According to Odutola, the police received a call from an unnamed informant and swiftly responded to the scene, led by the Isara Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Bankole Eluyeru.

However, attempting to arrest the suspect proved extremely challenging as he fiercely fought back, endangering the lives of the Divisional Police Officer and his team.

Despite the difficulties, the police managed to neutralize the suspect to prevent further harm.

Based on the intelligence gathered by the police, there was no previous report indicating that the suspect was mentally challenged.
