Incoming reports from the country”a seat of power, Abuja and Lagos revealed that long queues have started mounting up after fuel price reached N617 per litre.
The Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) were the first to enforce the new price with most of its retail stations selling PMS at N617 per litre.
Although some fuel stations dispensed fuel at N540 per litre in the early hours of Tuesday, they quickly shut down after they were notified of the new price.
Already, most stations in Lagos and Abuja are experiencing long queues despite the increase in price as marketers rush to effect the new price.
President Bola Tinubu had deregulated the downstream segment of the oil industry immediately after he assumed office as pump prices jumped from N185 to N550 per litre depending on the city of residence.
