Aubameyang set to accept significant salary reduction for Marseille transfer

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has reached an agreement to join Marseille, showing a willingness to accept a salary reduction in order to escape his challenging stint at Chelsea.

Chelsea initially held out for a £5 million transfer fee for the 34-year-old, but the deal now hinges on whether they are willing to forego the fee and allow him to leave without a transfer fee.

Marseille had hoped to secure Aubameyang’s signature on a free transfer after he agreed to a two-year contract, with the option for an additional year, to move to Ligue 1.

If Chelsea insists on a transfer fee, Aubameyang may face financial implications, as Marseille would likely seek to renegotiate the terms of his contract.

Currently earning around £150,000 per week at Chelsea, Aubameyang will experience a significant reduction in wages upon joining Marseille.

Discussions are ongoing, as all parties involved are eager to reach a deal for Aubameyang’s departure from Chelsea after a challenging year at Stamford Bridge.

Last summer, Aubameyang joined Chelsea for £12 million to reunite with Thomas Tuchel, but the German manager was dismissed less than a week later.

Throughout the previous season, Aubameyang only managed to score three goals in 22 appearances for Chelsea.
