Tomofe emphasizes the crucial need to revive entrepreneurship in universities

McEva Tomofe, the President and Founder of the African Economic Merit Awards (AEMA), has announced the AEMA Inspire Project, which aims to inspire and nurture entrepreneurs throughout Africa, beginning with Nigeria.

The project’s primary goal is to empower individuals to become employers of labor and successful business executives.

The AEMA Inspire Project is a significant initiative of the African Economic Merit Awards, spearheaded by Tomofe. AEMA is an organization that operates in 17 African countries, undertaking projects that have a substantial economic impact and foster development.

Within each university, the project provides grants and startup kits to students, allowing them to enhance existing projects. The grant amount is denominated in Nigerian Naira for Nigeria and US Dollars for other African countries.

These young entrepreneurs will receive mentorship from accomplished professionals and entrepreneurs, enabling them to establish sustainable enterprises.

In 2022, the African Economic Merit Awards (AEMA) launched its first Economic Varsity Tour at Baze University, Nigeria, with the objective of inspiring entrepreneurial skills among undergraduate students nationwide.

Tomofe highlighted AEMA as a group of young professionals who are passionate about advancing creative concepts for economic, social, and entrepreneurial growth. The Economic Varsity Tour was inaugurated to motivate students to pursue entrepreneurship as a career and encourage their active participation in political affairs for the betterment of Africa.

According to Temofe, the theme of the tour, “Safeguarding the Nigerian economy through entrepreneurs,” was deliberately selected to foster and ignite business acumen among young people.

Temofe further expressed that the tour aims to inspire undergraduates to embrace entrepreneurship as a viable path instead of solely relying on traditional employment opportunities after completing their studies.

Additionally, he revealed that the organization plans to visit numerous universities to raise awareness among students about the importance of pursuing careers in entrepreneurship. This, in turn, will contribute to the growth of Africa’s economy and facilitate the promotion of good governance.

He said: “In 2022, we launched the AEMA Inspire University Tour, as we will be going to different universities to inspire young Nigerians and Africans to pursue more of their careers in entrepreneurship to help the labor market by reducing unemployment in the country and the continent at large.

“We are bringing together people from the agro-industry, tech industry, government, sports, and other industries.

“They will use their voice to inspire these young people to be huge contributors to the Nigerian economy and Africa as a whole.

“We believe the young generation we have today has to be part of the movement for a better economy.

He added, “We must also create huge awareness for them to participate in politics and governance for us to have good government in Africa and in Nigeria.

“For you to participate in politics, you need good education and with good education, you will be highly productive in the labor market and contribute to the economy so that we can have a better and secured society.”
