Senator Kyari, the Deputy National Chairman (North) of the All Progressives Party (APC), has assumed control of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling party.
This development confirms the widely reported resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the National Chairman, over the weekend.
Senator Adamu tendered his resignation alongside Senator Iyiola Omisore, the National Secretary. At approximately 10:40 am on Monday, Senator Kyari, accompanied by seven other NWC members, convened a meeting in his office. Notably, the Deputy National Chairman’s official vehicle was parked in the designated space for the National Chairman.
Around 11:20 am, Senator Iyiola Omisore, the National Secretary, arrived at the party secretariat and joined the others in the meeting. Senator Kyari was accompanied by Deputy National Chairman (South) Emma Enukwu, National Vice Chairman (North West) Salihu Lukman, National Vice Chairman (North East) Salihu Mustapha, National Vice Chairman (North Central) Muazu Bawa, National Vice Chairman (South West) Issacs Kekemeke, National Vice Chairman (South East) Ejoroma Arodiogu, and Deputy National Secretary Barrister Festus Fuanter.
Security measures around the national secretariat have been strengthened, with thorough checks conducted on vehicles entering Blantrye Street, where the party headquarters is located. Passers-by are also being stopped and questioned as a precautionary measure.
