Anambra chapter of the APC has inaugurated committees to resolve issues arising from 2023 elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State has established three committees to address all unresolved matters arising from the 2023 elections in the state.

These committees aim to devise strategies for progress in the state, considering the APC’s status as the ruling national party.

During a stakeholders’ meeting held in Awka on Saturday, Mr Basil Ejidike, the state party chairman, announced that only dedicated members within the state would receive appointments at the federal level.

Ejidike encouraged dissatisfied party members who may have lost in previous primary elections or felt unfairly treated during the recent elections to rejoin the party, emphasizing the importance of unity among all members.

He further emphasized the critical nature of unity among party members, particularly now that President Bola Tinubu, a renowned political expert and master strategist, is leading the nation, offering Nigerians a renewed sense of hope.

He expressed that under the Tinubu presidency, party members in the state will have the opportunity to benefit from their long-standing dedication and efforts.

Following the 2023 general elections, there were divisions among the key stakeholders of the party in the state.

This led rumours suggesting that certain members were attempting to secure federal-level appointments at the expense of others.

Ejidike said, “There is a need for us to have a disciplinary committee to sanitise our party. We are also inaugurating the eminent committee, and then the finance committee.

“The essence of a political party is to win the election, and where we fail to win the election, we would be a mere social club. It is from our members who are elected into office that the party is funded. The finance committee will come together and fashion out ways to source funds to run the party.

“There is a need to forge unity in our party. The use of social media in our party is now very disturbing. Everyone now opens media platforms, where people congregate to run down the leaders of our party, and that is bad. That is where the disciplinary committee comes in.

“The executive arm of the party has visited all governorship aspirants of the party in the last governorship election, on ways to reconcile everyone, and has received positive feedback.

“Anyone who is still bearing grudges is not telling himself the truth, because we have thrashed out all the problems, and all we need is to forge ahead.

“Anambra APC is now more positioned because President Tinubu is a politician and a core party man. We are hopeful that the labours of our hands in the party will be rewarded under President Tinubu.”

The party established three committees, each with their respective chairpersons and secretaries. Chibuzo Obiakor and CJ Chinwuba were appointed as chairman and secretary of the disciplinary committee, Azuka Okwuosa and Elijah Onyeagba were assigned as chairman and secretary of the Finance committee, and Ralph Okeke and Ifeanyi Ibezi took on the roles of chairman and secretary of the Eminent committee.

Furthermore, the party decided to compile a list of 50 members from all 21 local government areas of the state. This list would be submitted for consideration for various appointments.
