Nigerian State Police will put end to the insecurity in the country

Adesunbo Onitiri, a socio-political activist and critic, emphasized yesterday that the solution to end insecurity in the country lies in the Federal Government allowing the establishment of state police to work alongside the Nigeria Police Force.

In a statement issued in Lagos, Onitiri commended the Lagos State House of Assembly for advocating the creation of state police. The State Assembly passed a resolution on Tuesday, urging the Federal Government to amend the Constitution and permit each state in the Federation to have its own police force. Onitiri regarded this call as timely, aligned with the current security situation in the country, as the primary duty of the government is to safeguard the lives and property of its citizens.

He highlighted the 9th National Assembly’s negligence in addressing the various appeals from concerned Nigerians regarding the need for state police to address security challenges specific to each geographical area.

Furthermore, he emphasized that the establishment of state police was urgently required for Nigerians to live in peace, achieve progress and harmony, and attract foreign investments.

Onitiri declared that the era of using politics, tribalism, nepotism, or religious sentiments to manipulate the lives and property of innocent Nigerians has come to an end for good.
