Governors elected on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will hold their inaugural meeting on Tuesday.
This will be the first meeting to be presided by Bauchi State governor Bala Mohammed, who was last month, elected as Chairman of PDP Governors Forum.
Mohammed replaces former Sokoto State governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, who piloted the affairs of the forum for four years. His is assisted by Rivers State governor, Seminalayi Fubara.
A statement by the Director General of PDP Governors’ Forum Cyril Maduabum, said the meeting, which holds at Akwa Ibom Lodge in Abuja, “is expected to discuss the state of the nation, especially recent developments in the country, politically, socially, and economically.
“The meeting will also discuss the state of the forum, the Party, PDP and the role of the PDP governors in stabilising the PDP and the nation.
“In addition, the new leadership of the forum may likely unfold their unity and progressive agenda during the meeting.”
The PDP governors had not met since after the party’s presidential primary in May last year, which factionalised the forum members.
Out of the 13 PDP governors, seven were newly elected after the 2023 general elections, three were reelected while three have subsisting tenure.
