Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has reiterated his administration’s dedication to the welfare of its staff. He urged civil servants to renew their commitment to efficient and effective service delivery for the benefit of residents.
Speaking at the annual interdenominational thanksgiving service for the Year 2023 Lagos State Public Service Week, the Service was themed ‘A Transformed Life for a Greater Service’. held at the Chapel of Christ the Light in Alausa, Ikeja, Sanwo-Olu’s representative, Chief of Staff Tayo Ayinde, commended civil servants for their invaluable support. He acknowledged their significant contributions to the success of the administration.
The governor restated the government’s commitment to staff welfare, assuring civil servants that the administration would continue to improve their working conditions and reward hard work. He emphasized the provision of a conducive environment for their professional growth.
The Governor’s wife, represented by the Chief Press Secretary’s wife, Mrs. Bukola Akosile, read a Bible passage from Romans 12: 1-8 during the Thanksgiving service. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, the Head of Service, expressed gratitude to the workers for their diligence in delivering the dividends of democracy to Lagos residents. He also prayed for the repose of workers who passed away the previous year.
In his sermon, Guest Minister Prof. Samuel Daramola highlighted the reasons for celebrating God’s goodness in the lives of civil servants and the state of Lagos. He emphasized that public servants are vital for economic growth and development and encouraged them to uphold integrity and godliness in their work.
The cleric also called on the government to designate a day of thanksgiving to praise God. Prayers were offered for Lagos State, Nigeria, Governor Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, Speaker of the House of Assembly Mudashiru Obasa, the legislature, judiciary, and all public servants.
The event was attended by Secretary to the Lagos State Government Mrs. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, Permanent Secretaries, and civil servants.
