I got JAMB text message that I scored 249 — Mmesoma

During an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Mmesoma Ejikeme, the Anambra student accused by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) of manually inflating her 2023 UTME result, confirmed that she received an automated text message from JAMB indicating her score as 249. This information came to light during the interview, which was monitored by The Punch.

Previously, JAMB’s spokesman, Fabian Benjamin, had disclosed that the candidate had sent multiple messages to the board’s automated telecoms system, including results displaying an aggregate of 362.

In her response, Mmesoma clarified that she only sent one SMS to JAMB through its support system, stating, “That’s the only SMS I sent there.”

When asked if she received any response, she replied, “They didn’t reply. If they checked their JAMB Support System, they would see that I sent a text message. They didn’t reply.”

Regarding the claim that she used an Airtel line, Mmesoma confirmed, “Yes,” but clarified that it was “not through USSD code.”

“The one I checked through the USSD code is the one of 360 that I saw,” she explained further.

In response to the claim that the feedback from JAMB displayed her score as 249, she acknowledged it.

“Yes,” she said. “After all was said and done, I now see that I got 249. I sent them a text message there to know what really happened—the JAMB Support System. If they go to their system, they will see it there.”

The 19-year-old Anambra student has been in the spotlight due to accusations of UTME score forgery, as reported.
