Abia student wins maiden edition of NDLEA Essay Competition

Miss. Chimaeze Chisara Ngozichukwu from NINLAN Demonstration Secondary School, Aba, Abia State has won the maiden edition of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Essay Competition for Secondary Schools in Nigeria.

The NDLEA Annual Essay Competition Exercise was Part of the Weeklong Programme of this year’s United Nations Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking.

According to the grading/result sheet obtained by New Telegraph for the competition, Chimaeze Chisara Ngozichukwu of NINLAN Demonstration Secondary School, Aba scored 171 to take the first position.

The sheet shows that Chidera Nwoye of United Baptist Model Secondary School in Jos, Plateau State scored 162 to take the second position while Ikegwuone Mmachukwu of Saint Augustine’s College in Du, Plateau State scored 156 to take the third position.

It was gathered that the schools were given a topic titled: “Substance Abuse is a Major Problem among the Young Generation of Today, What is the Way Forward.”

At the end of the exercise, Ngozichukwu’s write-up emerged as the best of all the schools that submitted entries and was adjudged the best by the judges.

Based on the preliminary entries submitted by Secondary Schools in Abia State, the Judges comprises, representatives from the State Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health and an NGO selected the three best Schools of which Ngozichukwu’s NINLAN Demonstration Secondary School was one.

Ngozichukwu received a Merit Award on Monday 26th June 2023, from the Chairman Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brigadier-General (retd) Mohammed Buba Marwa in Abuja.
