Davido, the Nigerian Afrobeats sensation, expressed his immense excitement about his debut performance at the 2023 BET Awards.
Taking the stage at the 23rd BET Awards held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California, the singer delivered a mesmerizing and high-energy performance on Sunday night.
During his captivating set, the OBO crooner delighted the audience with a medley of his hit songs, including “Feel” and “Unavailable,” both featured on his latest album, “Timeless.”
In a separate interview with Billboard’s Neena Rouhani prior to the performance, Davido discussed the rapid growth of Afrobeats in the United States, shedding light on its increasing popularity and influence.

Speaking on his first time performing at BET Awards, he stated:
“I feel good performing tonight. It should be big. It should be amazing; it’s the first time I’m performing at the [BET] Awards, and I’m excited.”
“I remember when I used to live in America as an African, in Atlanta and in Alabama for a while. I used to share [African] music, play music for my American friends and they love it. So, I always knew if we had the opportunity to be heard, eventually it [afrobeats explosion] would happen.
“Shoutout to all the Afrobeats artists killing it as well. Everybody putting in works, coming out here doing tours, spreading the gospel [of afrobeats].”
