Efe Irele tackles Stella Damasus for cautioning parents who use child harness on their kids

Renowned Nigerian film actress Efe Irele has engaged in a discourse with her senior colleague, Stella Damasus, regarding the use of child harnesses by parents.

Expressing her disagreement, Irele addressed Damasus’ cautionary message, which advised parents against putting their children on a leash. The discussion unfolded on Irele’s Instagram page as she shared her differing perspectives on the matter.

Respecting the differing viewpoints shared in a blog’s comment section, Efe Irele respectfully expressed her perspective in response to Stella Damasus’ statement.

Irele acknowledged that while seeking professional help and speaking with psychologists are important steps in addressing children’s behavioral issues, it is essential not to judge parents without understanding the reasons behind their actions.

Drawing from her personal experience, Irele shared that she has a 27-year-old brother who lives with autism. During his younger years, it was challenging to take him out in public without the use of a leash for his safety.

This experience shaped her understanding that parents should have the freedom to choose the most suitable methods to protect and manage their children’s well-being without facing undue judgment.

In highlighting the complexities of parenting, Efe Irele emphasized the importance of empathy and recognizing that each child and family situation is unique. She concluded by advocating for a non-judgmental approach towards parents, allowing them to make decisions based on their child’s individual needs.
