C'River: NNPP blames its woes on INEC's inability to place it's Logo on ballot papers

The New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, has lamented the inability of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to put it’s party’s logo in the last governorship election held on March 18.

Governorship candidate of the party in Cross River State, Ambassador Wilfred Bonse made the allegation on Wednesday while interacting with Journalists in Calabar.

He said his party was ready to take on major political parties that contested the election but regretted that INEC refused to upload his name as a candidate and subsequently excluded the party’s logo during the election.

According to him, his party had fulfilled all the requirements needed by INEC, wandering why they were excluded. He therefore urged the electoral body to reverse the situation by re-conducting the governorship election in the state.

He said: “We were surprised to see that prior to the 2023 governorship election in the state, INEC excluded our party and refused to put our party’s logo on the ballot box which gave the impression that we were not part of the election.

“We went to court and won and INEC appealed but they lost, yet they refused to upload our name. We are calling on INEC to cancel that election in the state and accommodate our party,” he said.
