108 stranded Nigerians in Libya arrive Lagos

The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has received another batch of 108 stranded Nigerians from Tripoli, Libya.

A group of individuals who received support from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) recently returned to the country. 

They arrived at the cargo wing of the Murtala Muhammad International Airport in Ikeja aboard the Al Buraq Air Boeing 737-800, identified by its registration number 5A-DMG. The returnees included 46 adult females, two female children, and a female infant.

In addition to this, 52 male adults, four male children, and four infant males were also among the returnees.

In welcoming the voluntary assisted returnees back to the country, the Director-General of the agency, Mustapha Ahmed, expressed the commitment of the new administration to address the country’s challenges and implement measures for positive economic development.

Representing the Director-General, Ibrahim Farinloye, the Lagos Territorial Office Coordinator, emphasized the administration’s determination to ensure the inclusion of youths in governance, recognizing their energy and technological skills as crucial for the progress of any progressive society worldwide.

Alhaji Habib-Ahmed also conveyed the president’s promise to prioritize the involvement of youth in shaping the nation’s future.

“The President will evolve a policy that youth and women will actively participate in the implementation of all policies.

“The youth will be the driving force of all decisions in the current administration because of the importance that the leadership of this nation has placed on tapping the potential abounding in the largest segment of the population.”

He urged the returnees to use the opportunity of their return to the country to be ambassadors of good tidings to other youths still planning to travel outside.

“The green pastures are here; let us tend the pastures to maturity so that the benefits can be everlasting,” he said.

In addition to the agency mentioned, several other organizations were present to receive the returnees. These included the National Commission for Refugees, Migration, and Internally Displaced Persons, the Federal Ministry of Health, Port Health, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, and the Nigeria Police.
