Word was rife in Spain that Villareal are currently battling to retain Samuel Chukwueze after word filtered in that PSG is considering signing the Super Eagles winger as suitable replacement for Lionel Messi.
The Argentine captain look set to leave the French giants after winning Ligue 1, with Saudi Arabia or Bacelona as likely destination, but PSG are already combing Europe for replacement.
Chukwueze is one of the few shining lights at Villareal but it will be extremely difficult to turn down PSG offer if they make the move for their man during summer transfer window.
Paris Saint-Germain also believe the potential signing of the 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup winner would fill the void left by the departure of Messi’s compatriot Ángel Di María, who is an inverted winger like Chukwueze.
The 24-year-old has one year left on his Villarreal contract.
