Kaduna, Nigeria – The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has officially unveiled a state-of-the-art twin lecture theatre and skill acquisition center in Kaduna.
The newly inaugurated facilities are part of NIMASA’s commitment to promoting education, skills development, and capacity building in the maritime sector. The twin lecture theatre, equipped with modern audiovisual technology, provides a conducive environment for maritime education and training programs. It will serve as a hub for academic activities, hosting lectures, seminars, and workshops to enhance the knowledge and skills of students and professionals in the maritime industry.
In addition to the lecture theatre, the skill acquisition center aims to empower individuals with practical skills that are in high demand in the maritime sector. The facility features specialized workshops and training areas for various vocational courses, including welding, electrical engineering, marine engineering, and seamanship. The skill acquisition center will play a crucial role in equipping Nigerians with the necessary expertise to pursue careers in the maritime industry and contribute to the country’s economic growth.
The unveiling ceremony was attended by dignitaries, industry stakeholders, and representatives from the educational sector. In his address, the Director-General of NIMASA highlighted the agency’s commitment to fostering human capital development and promoting sustainable growth in the maritime sector.

We believe that investing in education and skills development is vital for the growth and competitiveness of the sector.”
The unveiling of the twin lecture theatre and skill acquisition center in Kaduna aligns with the Nigerian government’s vision to transform the maritime industry into a key driver of economic development. These facilities will serve as a catalyst for innovation, knowledge transfer, and job creation, benefiting the local community and the country at large.
Furthermore, the new infrastructure will contribute to the decentralization of maritime education and training opportunities, providing access to quality resources and programs in regions beyond the coastal areas. This inclusivity will enable more individuals from diverse backgrounds to participate and contribute to the growth of the maritime sector.
As the twin lecture theatre and skill acquisition center begin operations, NIMASA remains committed to nurturing a skilled and competent workforce in the maritime industry. The agency’s investment in infrastructure and educational initiatives signifies a progressive approach towards strengthening Nigeria’s position as a maritime hub and fostering sustainable economic development.
