Neighbours At War: Golden Eaglets battle Bukina Faso for WC ticket

All eyes will be on coach Nduka Ugbade and the Golden Eaglets to make it count when it matters most as they file-out against the West African neighbours, Bukina Faso this evening

The Nigeria U-17 national are going into this game as underdogs given the pedigree of Bukina Faso football academy system which has been evident in their style of play in the tournament so far.

But Nigeria’s part records against their neighbour give Ugbade boys slight edge going into today’s clash. It will be interesting to know how both team intends to approach the encounter given their attacking prowess. Nigeria overpowered South Africa 4-3 to emerge as runners up while Bukina Faso edged Cameroun 2-0 to set-up a mouth-watering clash against Nigeria.

Bukina Faso gaffer, Brahima Traore says his players will be ready to face the Golden Eaglets on Thursday as both West African neighbour chase World Cup ticket.

“We had two objectives in this tournament; first to get to the semi-finals and then to fight for the title,” Traore said at the post-match press conference after the win over the  Lionceaux indomptables du Cameroun.

“We will prepare well for Nigeria to enable us get to the semis and earn the World Cup ticket.” he told CAF online.com
