Abike Dabiri-Erewa has been reappointed as the Chairman/Chief Executive of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) for a second term, and President Muhammadu Buhari has urged the Senate to approve the appointment.
Ahmad Lawan, the president of the Senate, read Buhari’s letter of request during plenary.
Dabiri-Erewa has been criticised over the shabby handling of the evacuation of Nigerians stranded in war-torn Sudan.
According to the President, Daniel-Erewa’s nomination for a second term is in compliance with section 2 subsection 2 of the NIDCOM Establishment Act of 2017.
Additionally, Buhari urged the Red Chamber to approve six candidates for the position of federal commissioners for the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation, and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
He said the request for the confirmation of the six Federal Commissioners-nominees is in accordance with the provision of section 154 sub section 1 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
