Africa U-17 Championship: Eaglets' captain plays down Nigeria's chances against Zambia

By David Kabiyesi

Golden Eaglets captain, Precious Williams has played down Nigeria’s chances against Young Chipolopolo of Zambia ahead of this evening’s group B opener at the 2023 Africa U-17 Nations Cup in Algiers.

Fielding questions from the press in Saturday’s pre match meeting, Precious maintained that no team is a pushover as far as the tournament is concerned, adding that all teams that made it to Algiers deserve a lot of respect.

Every nation that is in our group we respect them,” Williams told reporters at the pre-match press conference.

“We are here to develop, to expose ourselves, so we cannot say that we are the favorites in the group because we have not yet played.

“We play to our coaches instructions, play as a team, attack as a team, defend as a team.

“At the end God will grant us a victory to put smile on our nation.” he said.

Nigeria and Zambia will do battle at the Mohamed Hamlaoui Stadium, Constantine on Sunday evening.
