UEFA CL: Napoli/ Milan clash is 50-50 Without Osimhen-Capello

Legendary manager Fabio Capello believes that AC Milan’s Champions League tie against Napoli will become a 50-50 if Super Eagles and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen misses the games through injury.

Despite the general optimism of the past few days suggesting that Osimhen will be available for the first leg, there now seems to be very little hope.

Naples-based paper Il Mattino (via SempreMilan.it) for example are sure he will be absent for the first game.

The Nigerian striker should therefore not make it back in time for the first leg match of the Champions League quarter-finals but the focus then shifts to whether head coach Luciano Spalletti can use him off the bench and if he makes it back for the second leg.

Capello spoke during an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport and admitted his belief that there is one player who can shift the balance in favour of Napoli, with his comments relayed by SempreMilan.it.

“Napoli has strengths and weaknesses. One? Di Lorenzo one-on-one with Leao is hard. Milan will think about this, then it will depend on Osimhen,” he said.

“If he doesn’t play, it’s 50-50. If he plays, he moves 5% by himself. Pioli in these days will have to understand how not to let him get the ball while Spalletti will work on his head: he must convince Napoli that they are fine, even if in Lecce…”
