Afrobeats musician, Obi Lawson known as Obidiz says he had no bad intention for using Mercy Chinwo’s name in one of his music videos.
Obidiz had raised the dust after using Mercy Chinwo’s name and her lookalike in of his recent videos without the gospel singer’s consent. He was eventually slammed with a ₦ 2 billion lawsuit for defamation of character.
But the afrobeat star has stated in clear terms that the name Mercy Chinwo belongs to a girl he met at a club and that his video has absolutely nothing to do with the Gospel singer.
He has since been warned to desist from using Mercy Chinwo’s name or any of her lookalikes in his subsequent videos. Also, Obidiz has been ordered to do away with images, promotional materials, and music that featured Mercy Chinwo’s name and likeness from all streaming or face litigations.
“Na song I sing I no kill person. Mercy Chinwo for church, but in the club she’s Cardi B set’ you want to crucify me, I only Talks about a lady that I met, na she I sing about,” he wrote on a Instagram.
