Save my job, be deadlier in front of goal- Peseiro begs Osimhen, Lookman, Chukwueze

By David Kabiyesi

Miffed by his striker’s failure to convert begging chances to goals in last Friday’s AFCON qualifiers against Guinea Bissau, Super Eagles gaffer, Jose Peaeiro has pleaded with the trio of Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, and Samuel Chukwueze to come up with better performance in today’s reverse clash in Bissau.

The three players have been outstanding for their respective clubs this season but struggled to find their feet last Friday, raising questions about Peseiro’s project, which many claimed is retrogressive to the team’s overall performance.

But Peseiro has appealed to the three strikers to turn Estádio Nacional 24 de Setembro to slaughter slab and put their host to the sword today.

“In the press conference after the first match, I gave my opinion about the match. After the video I saw yesterday I’m sure I spoke the truth,” Peseiro told reporters.

“Our team had a good game but lost many opportunities on Friday. Of course, Guinea-Bissau deserved to win because they scored, our team didn’t score, it’s our responsibility.

“We need to repeat our performance tomorrow, create the same opportunities but of course with more efficiency.

“We need to score more times because it’s not normal for a team like us to miss goals as we missed against Guinea-Bissau in the first game.

“We deserved much more in the match, we attacked every time. Second half we were on the offensive, even in the box, how many chances, how many shots, we didn’t score but you should create opportunities.

“I want my team to repeat the same but there are some mistakes we need to avoid,” Peseiro said on Sunday.
