N’Golo Kante to step up Chelsea recovery during international break after and could play in ‘internal friendly’, says Graham Potter

N’Golo Kante could return to match action in an internal friendly as the Chelsea star steps up his return to fitness.

The midfielder has been out of action since last August after picking up a hamstring injury.

A hamstring injury has kept Kante out of action since August, although he is back in training

With the season moving into the final stages, the 31-year-old is hoping to make an impact on Chelsea’s end-of-season run-in, something that Potter is hoping he can work towards in the coming weeks.

Potter told Chelsea’s club website: “N’Golo is due to carry on training this week, and potentially with a game to get some minutes.

“That’s the plan there. The game will probably be internal. We need to control that as much as we can. But that will be good.”

With Chelsea having just under two weeks until their next match the focus will be on ensuring the players return to action unscathed, however, with so many away on international duty, Potter admits that he’ll be hoping for an element of good fortune on that front.

He said: “I think we’ve got about four players here.

“We have got to hope the players come back injury free. And we will use the break to refresh and then prepare for a really hectic April.”
