A 53-year-old woman has been arrested by men of the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly being in possession of laminated electoral materials.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the suspect was arrested on Thursday around 4 pm at a business centre on Candos Road, Baruwa in the Iyana-Ipaja area of the state.
In a viral video seen by our correspondent, the suspect was seen being interrogated by a person apparently a man who asked her while she was producing electoral materials.
She claimed she didn’t know that it was only the Independent National Electoral Commission that has the power to produce such materials.
The man said he would call the police and he apparently did as Hundeyin confirmed she was arrested with 550 different INEC materials.
“The laptop she used in printing the materials had been recovered and she couldn’t give a good account of how she came in possession of the materials.
“The case has been transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba for further investigation,” he said.
