The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, on Thursday commenced the laughing of a 60MVA, 132/33kV transmission sub-station in his hometown, Oro, Kwara.
The 5km turn-in-turn-out Offa-Omu-Aran 132kV double circuit transmission lines project was awarded by the Federal Government through the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
The project will gulp a whopping N3 billion in local content and 8 million dollars (about N6 billion) in foreign exchange.
The elated minister described the occasion as a moment of joy for the Oro community, considering the way the project was awarded by federal government.
“It will transform for the better the lives of the people of Oro in particular and the entire Irepodun Local Government in general.
“The project will lead to an improved power supply to Oro and its environs, and boost economic activities in these areas, especially for artisans and small and medium-scale businesses.
‘It will also enhance the social development of the people,” he said.
