Ahead of the governorship election, the lawmaker representing Badagry Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Babatunde Hunpe, has expressed his determination to deliver the constituency to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Hunpe has partnered with workers of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, and Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, LAGESC, on the governor’s re-election bid.
Speaking on the partnership, Hunpe said there was need to educate youths and workers of the agencies on need to ensure continuity in Lagos government.
He said, “We should not allow someone to come overnight and say he wants to destroy what we have built.
“Our people here, LASTMA, LAGESC are creation of this government, we need to call ourselves together as brothers and families, talk to ourselves and wake up from slumber.
“Maybe some of us are sleeping before and we don’t know the gravity of what is happening. This is just a wake up call on them to ensure they vote e-mass for Sanwo-Olu and all APC candidates in Badagry.”
On his part, the Director of Operations, LASTMA, Peter Emmanuel, said they have to come together to ensure continuity in order to feed our families.
He said, “This is where I got my job and feed my family. This is just to tell our people that we should ensure continuity in order to feed our families.
“We should not allow any tribe to take Lagos from us. We should all go home and think overnight and ensure we vote for Mr Project, Gov. Sanwo-Olu.”
A former secretary of Badagry Local Government, Kamarudeen Ajape, said the partnership was a good idea from Hunpe.
“We discovered that some people lack information, education and they need to be told the truth and appeal to so that they can be kept abreast of what is happening in Lagos.
“Actually, we discovered that in Lagos, most of the people governing us as always ruling us well. So, we don’t see any reason for us to change the ruling party, this is why we organiséd this initiative.
“Lagos State Government has provided job for our youths through these agencies and we have to compensate them by reelecting Sanwo-Olu and Kadri Hamzat, the Deputy Governor and other candidates of the party,” he said.
