Flying Eagles gaffer, Ladan Bosso is confident of putting his West African neighbors, Gambia to the sword when both countries lock horns in the U-20 AFCON semi-final in Cairo this evening.
Speaking from Ciaro on Sunday evening, Bosso admitted that the Gambians are no pushover considering their 100 percent record in the tournament so far, which saw them score nine goals without conceding any.
But Ladan Bosso maintained that his players have also recovered fully well from their 1-0 loss to Senegal in their group opener and are rearing to end Gambia’s fairy-tale runs in the competition.
“Previous results will not determine what happens in our semifinal match against The Gambia. They have been in great form and my boys have also recovered well and are in their element. It will be a great match, but I believe in my team and we are confident of playing in the in Saturday’s final.
“I’m happy to be back in Cairo once again after we played the last two matches in Ismailia. Tomorrow (today) we will face The Gambia, who are a strong team and we respect them well but we will work to present a good level to win.
“We lost the first match and we have not lost any match since then.”
“We will face a team that has not been defeated in the tournament.
“The most important thing for us in the tournament is that we qualified for the World Cup. Now we will fight to win the title,” Bosso told CAF media on Sunday.
Nigeria last won the tournament in 2015 in Senegal with coach Samson Siasia in charge.
