River State Governor Nyesom Wike and other four state governors who campaign against Abubakar Atiku presidential ambition will on May 31 know what the future hold for them as regards their membership in People Democratic Party (PDP).
Recall Wike had filled an order restraining PDP disciplinary committee from expelling G5 over anti-party activities, which saw them derail PDP presidential dreams after Atiku failed to pick any valuable votes from their respective states.
The hearing date was fixed by Justice James Omotosho after counseling the governor, Dr. Joshua Musa, SAN, and PDP lawyer, Johnson Usman, SAN, adopted the move and laid down their arguments.
The judge ruled that all parties should maintain a status quo pending the hearing and final ruling of the suit.
Musa had informed the court that the suit was adjourned for hearing and he was ready to proceed adding that the right of his client to freedom of association was breached due to the threat by PDP to suspend him from the party
But PDP counsel, Usman, vehemently disagreed with Musa’s submission saying
“We have said that there is no threat to suspend the applicant and the onus is on him to prove this,” he said
“You must exhaust the internal mechanism of the party.
“And having failed to do this, this court has no jurisdiction to hear the suit and I pray that the matter be struck out,” he said,
