The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is leaving no stone unturned to ensure electoral materials get to their respective locations in Abuja without any interruptions, iwitnesslive.com can report.
Towards this end, the agency has beefed up its security presence around its Karu office in Federal Capital Territory (FCT) ahead of this morning’s voting.
Armed to the teeth and ready to pounce on any unwanted elements that might want to disrupt the easy distribution of electoral materials, the presence of the Nigerian Army and military Police has been doubled in the nation’s capital.
iwitnesslive.com gathered that about 11 military vehicles were on patrol around the INEC Karu office, and their presence caused some gridlock in Abuja yesterday following vehicle diversions.
Already, materials have been dispatched to Wuse, Gwarimpa, and other parts of the city with no report of any form of hijacking or security threats.
Presidential and National Assembly elections hold today while Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections will follow on March 11.
