How I moved from being Mr Ibu’s editor to a successful skit maker- Sirbalo

Skit maker Obotuke Timothy Ochuko Sirbalo, popularly known as Sirbalo, has shared his experience of how he transited from being a video editor to actor Mr Ibu to becoming one of the most successful comedy content creators on YouTube and Facebook.

Sirbalo said in an interview that he worked in Nollywood as an editor for many producers but became a permanent video editor for comic actor Mr Ibu.

He said consistency and desire to learn from others have helped sustain ed his growth and success in the industry.

“To make it as a skits maker you have to be consistent, ready to learn from people and always improve on your craft. Before I became a content creator, I worked as an editor in Nollywood and as a permanent editor to Mr Ibu amongst others,” he said.

Although he claimed not to be a billionaire, he confessed skit making is a money spinner.

He said there are different ways skit makers sustain a stream of income, adding, “I don’t know if skit makers are billionaires or not, but what I can tell you is that there is a lot of money to be made online platforms. There are criteria to meet in order to monetise your skits. Basically, we have two major sources of monetizing your content, which is Facebook and YouTube.”
