Nigerians steal show at Soundcity MVP awards as Burna Boy, Tems, others win big

Nigerian musicians dominated the Soundcity MVP Awards for 2022 with Burna Boy emerging the Best African Act at the event held at t the Eko Convention Centre, in Lagos, Nigeria Saturday night.

Also winning big was Grammy Award winner Tems who was named  Best Nigerian Act Female while the All Africa Music Award (AFRIMA) winner Asake received the plaque as  Best Nigerian Act Male.

Other Nigerians who stole the show are Rema who emerged as Digital Artist of the Year while Ruger was named Best New artiste.  Rema beats the likes of Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido Diamond Platnumz from Tanzania, Omah Lay, Da Banton and Tanzania’s Zuchu.

Ace producer Magicsticks also won the African Producer of the Year with his efforts on Asake’s song, Organise. Ajebo Hustlers from Nigeria beat Show Dem Camp and South Africa’s  Major League, Blaq Diamond,  DopeNation & Sleezy to claim the Best Group or Duo

Fireboy’s – Peru (Remix) featuring Ed Sheeran won the Best Pop of the Year gong ahead of  Diamond Platnumz – Mtasubiri ft. Zuchu (TZ), Ruger – Dior (NG) Omah Lay – Woman (NG) Ayra Starr – Rush (NG) Crayon – Ijo Laba Laba (NG)  and Lasmid – Friday Night (GH).

Song of the Year Award went to Kizz Daniel for his viral song titled  Buga. He pipped the likes of Burna Boy – Last Last, Asake – Organise, Zakes Bantwini X Kasango – Osama and Mayorkun & Victony – Holy Father among others.
