Police confirm four injured in attack on Obi’s supporters

The Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, has confirmed that four supporters of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, sustained varying degrees of injuries during an attack on Saturday.

Hundeyin said Police had started an investigation into the incident, revealing that witnesses had been coming forward with information that would help the command unravel the perpetrators.

He assured the populace that the perpetrators of the dastardly act would be apprehended and would be made to face the full wrath of the law.

Hundeyin said a chieftain of the party reported the case at the Ilasan division of the Command with the injured persons receiving treatment now.

He added that the attack occurred at a location that was far away from the Tafawa Balewa Square venue of the rally; he claimed the police had stationed its men at the venue on the eve of the rally to secure the premises to prevent the breakdown of law and order.

“The injured and other witnesses are assisting the Police with relevant information that would aid the apprehension and prosecution of the attackers,” he said.
