Suspected armed herdsmen abducted three individuals along the Obiri-Ikwerre-Port Harcourt Airport Road, but they have since been freed.
The Rivers State Police Command, through its Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed their release in an official statement.
During a meeting with Area Commanders, DPOs, and Tactical Team Commanders, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, directed heightened security measures to secure the victims’ release.
Iringe-Koko stated that due to the “pressure and massive deployment of Police presence,” the victims were released and reunited with their families on Friday. Earlier, gunmen suspected to be herdsmen had abducted about eight individuals near the Port Harcourt International Airport Roundabout in Omuagwa on January 2, 2024.
