The Super Eagles’ 1-1 draw with Zimbabwe on Sunday has sparked angry reactions from the fans, who have called for the sacking of Coach Jose Pesiero.
The Eagles posted a lacklustre show in Huye, Rwanda, on Sunday, despite throwing away two points against Lesotho in their opening match of the World Cup qualifying campaign in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, three days earlier.
With two draws in as many matches, the Super Eagles find themselves without a win in their quest for qualification to the 2026 World Cup, accumulating only two points out of a possible six.
On social media, Nigerians have expressed their disappointment with the result, with many calling for the removal of Coach Peseiro by the Nigeria Football Federation.
OMOTAYO Of Lagos with X handle @Tee_Classiquem1 wrote, “Zero shame and ambition, sack that your nonsense coach.”
Another user, K-A-Y-O-D-E @riky_iam wrote, “With the quality of the squad we have, I think we need to change the coach, this is the worst coach I have seen coaching the national team, Super Eagles don’t even play good football.”
“Disgrace. Sack everyone, @SeunMobolaji wrote, while UTD Dave @David__simi added to the conversation with, “You guys are not ashamed, better sack that man called a coach.”
@preciousekeke added: “If Pesiero survives a sack letter after this dismal outing then the NFF should tell us what he has against them.”
