Napoli open fresh talk with Osimhen over contract extension

Napoli remains optimistic about securing a contract extension for their star striker, Victor Osimhen, and recent meetings between club officials and the player’s agent, Roberto Calenda, have fueled hope for a positive resolution before the end of the season.
President Aurelio De Laurentiis recently held discussions with Osimhen and Calenda in Napoli over the course of the week, aiming to reach an agreement on a new contract. The presence of newly appointed coach Walter Mazzarri added a new dynamic to the discussions, with reports suggesting a positive rapport between Osimhen and the coach during initial interactions.
Tuttomercatoweb has reported that Osimhen’s agent visited Napoli on Thursday and Friday, emphasizing the importance of contract renewal as a key topic of conversation. Napoli is keen to secure Osimhen’s commitment before the conclusion of the current season, as the striker’s existing contract expires in the summer of 2025. The club is eager to avoid entering the final year of the contract in the 2024-25 season.
Despite Osimhen’s current contract running until 2025, Napoli faces pressure, given the interest from elite clubs worldwide in the event that the striker enters the final year of his contract this summer.
Osimhen, recovering from an injury sustained during international duty with Nigeria in October, returned to training after a hiatus. Napoli’s recent challenges on the field, coupled with Osimhen’s injury concerns, have added urgency to the contract renewal negotiations.
