A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Dr Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa, has described the 12-point policy document unveiled by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as a “document of desperation and emptiness.”
Bolarinwa, a former member of the House of Representatives, made the assertion in a statement issued in Ilorin.
According to him, the proposals contained in the document are largely a replication of the Renewed Hope economic reform policies of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.
He alleged that Atiku was making the proposals to avoid criticism from his supporters for not speaking out as the 2027 elections approach.
Bolarinwa said the proposal to decongest the Lagos ports and revive the Calabar, Warri and Port Harcourt ports was not a new idea, arguing that the initiatives were already contained in the economic policies of the present administration.
He said the revival of the three ports was being pursued under President Tinubu’s maritime and logistics reforms.
The APC chieftain also said education reform and local government autonomy were being implemented at various levels of government in line with directives from the President.
Bolarinwa maintained that reforms in the economy, security, infrastructure and governance require patience and national support, rather than what he described as “opportunistic rebranding.”
He urged Nigerians to support the ongoing reform efforts of the administration.
Bolarinwa also prayed for Nigeria and President Tinubu, asking Almighty Allah to continue to grant the President wisdom and strength in the discharge of his duties.
