Veteran Yoruba Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has died after battling cancer.
The actor’s daughter, Kira Taiwo, announced his death on Sunday evening during a live session on Instagram.
Ogogo’s death came only days after his daughter revealed that the veteran actor was battling stage-four cancer.
There had been efforts to secure medical treatment for the actor following the disclosure of his illness.
Reports had also indicated that the Ogun State All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Adeola Olamilekan, popularly known as Yayi, offered financial assistance towards his treatment.
Ogogo was one of the respected figures in Yoruba-language Nollywood, where he built a long and successful career as an actor.
His death has since sparked reactions from fans, colleagues and other members of the entertainment industry, who have continued to mourn the veteran actor.
He was widely known for his memorable roles in Yoruba films and his contributions to the growth of the Nigerian film industry.
