Veteran rapper Ruggedman, real name Michael Stephens, has finally spilled the tea on why he doesn’t have a wife or child at 51 – and trust him to keep it real!
The “Ehen” crooner was a guest on TVC’s Your View when the hosts quizzed him about his personal life. Without mincing words, Ruggedman revealed that his decision was intentional.
“When I dey much younger, I vowed not to have a child out of wedlock,” he said. “So, I still dey reason am whether na the best decision I make last last, but I just decide because e dey take a lot from both parties.”
For Ruggedman, getting married and starting a family isn’t just about ticking a box – it’s about doing it with the right person. When asked if he hadn’t met anyone special, he admitted: “I don see some, but at the end of the day, e no pan out.”
He even shared how one relationship almost led to marriage, but along the line, a richer man entered the picture and started “settling” the woman’s mother with juicy contracts. The rest, as they say, is history.
When one of the hosts expressed surprise that he’s not married because he seems responsible, Ruggedman dropped another gem:
“Marriage no be by responsibility, o! Plenty irresponsible people don marry.”
He also made it clear that he’s not one to be pressured into marriage, nor will he force himself into something that isn’t right.
“I no be difficult person to live with, but I no go knowingly make a decision wey no good for me,” he said.
