Former Kano State Governor, Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has commissioned National Democratic Congress (NDC) offices in several parts of Bauchi State as the party intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Kwankwaso, popularly known as Madugu and identified in the party’s political arrangements as its vice-presidential candidate, made the brief visit while travelling from Jigawa State to Jos, Plateau State.
During the visit, he inaugurated party offices in Ningi, Bauchi metropolis and Toro Local Government Area, while also visiting the Kwankwasiya Movement office and the NDC North-East Zonal office.
The political leader was received at Babaldu, along the Bauchi-Jigawa border, by NDC officials led by the state chairman, Yarima Misau.
The reception attracted party executives, political candidates, members of the Kwankwasiya Movement, supporters of the Obidient Movement and other party loyalists.
Kwankwaso expressed delight at the reception and the turnout of supporters, while party officials and candidates were introduced to him.
From Babaldu, he proceeded to Ningi Local Government Area, where he commissioned the NDC office located near the local government secretariat along Bauchi Road.
On arriving in Bauchi metropolis at about 4:30 p.m., Kwankwaso visited the Kwankwasiya Movement office in Turwun and declared it operational before proceeding to the NDC North-East Zonal office.
He spent between 10 and 15 minutes at the zonal office, inspecting the facilities and interacting with staff members.
The former governor later visited the Barade family to offer condolences over the death of a female member of the family. He also provided financial assistance to the bereaved family, while some party supporters reportedly received financial gestures.
A representative of the family thanked Kwankwaso for the visit, describing his leadership approach as people-oriented and focused on the welfare of ordinary citizens.
Responding, Kwankwaso prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul and thanked the people of Bauchi State for the reception accorded him.
He urged residents to support not only him but also the NDC and all its candidates contesting elections in the state.
Kwankwaso acknowledged the economic and social challenges confronting Nigerians, noting that citizens expected political leaders to provide solutions to problems affecting their livelihoods.
He subsequently proceeded to the NDC state office in Bauchi, where he performed the commissioning ceremony, before making his final scheduled stop in Toro Local Government Area to open another party office.
Although the engagements involved the inauguration of party facilities and interaction with supporters, the visit was largely a transit stop on his journey to Plateau State.
A more extensive visit is expected ahead of the commencement of the party’s full campaign activities in Bauchi State, providing an opportunity for wider political mobilisation and the presentation of its candidates and programmes ahead of the 2027 elections.
