Afenifere Mourns Leader Fasoranti, Hails Legacy of Integrity

The pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has announced the death of its leader, Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, describing him as an exemplary statesman whose life was defined by integrity and commitment to the common good.

Fasoranti, the Asiwaju Yoruba, died on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, after living for more than 100 years, according to a statement issued by Afenifere.

The statement, signed by the organisation’s Secretary-General, Chief Ademola Folarin, said the late leader left behind a legacy of exceptional integrity, dedication and service to humanity.

Afenifere said it joined millions of Nigerians and other compatriots in mourning the death of the elder statesman, whom it described as a rare and exemplary leader.

The organisation extended its condolences to the Fasoranti family, members of Afenifere across the world, the Ondo State Government and people, the Yoruba nation at home and in the diaspora, as well as Nigeria as a whole.

It said arrangements for the burial would be announced in due course.

“May his gentle and noble soul rest in peace. Amen,” the statement added.
