APC’s Rainbow Coalition Can’t Rewrite Tinubu’s Failures – Makinde

The presidential organisation of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) has told President Bola Tinubu that the All Progressives Congress (APC) Rainbow Coalition campaigning for his re-election in 2027, cannot rewrite his failures for the past three and half years.

The Director, Strategic Communications of Makinde-Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation (MDPCO), Richard Ihediwa, in a statement on Wednesday, added that the coalition cannot bought for him public acceptance.

MDPCO stated that the high confidence that President Tinubu reposes in the alliance of the people he called “failed governors, yes-along legislators, and discredited politicians” some of whom, it alleged, are fleeing from corruption investigations, he cannot escape imminent political humiliation in 2027.

“History is replete with the humiliation of those who mistake transitory power for permanence while reinforcing their illusions by surrounding themselves with compensated loyalists and sycophants who do not command the loyalty or followership of the people, rather than confront stark reality of failures,” MDPCO noted.

It wondered the explanation the coalition would be giving Nigerians for the 140 million citizens (estimated to be about 63 percent of the population) now trapped in multidimensional poverty, according to World Bank Report, and the 113 million experiencing deprivation in health, education and other basics occasioned by President Tinubu’s misrule.

Or the explanation the coalition would give to millions of families who go to bed every night on empty stomach and the teeming hardworking youths whose destinies have been fractured by pervasive unemployment worsened by President Tinubu’s anti-people policies?

“What defence can it possibly offer for the Federal Government’s own admission that 70 per cent of Nigerian children under the age of 10 cannot read and understand a simple sentence, as disclosed by the National Coordinator of Human Capital Development?

“These are not mere statistics but damning indicators of the depth of Nigeria’s socio-economic distress and the erosion of human capital,” it added.

The campaign organisation stated that at a time when families struggle to survive and an alarming proportion of the children face a foundational crisis of hunger, homelessness and illiteracy, the APC have no answers to their problems or demonstrated ability to solving them.

“President Tinubu is on a collision course with the people. He faces a defining battle between the arrogance of power and the democratic resolve of a battered population, driven to the brink by deepening socio-economic hardship, for which they ultimately seek liberation.

“No coalition or power of incumbency can insulate President Tinubu from the consequences of misrule.

“None can extinguish mounting public grievances, erase the memory of broken promises or override the people’s constitutional right to demand accountability and change,” the MDPCO argued.

It told APC that it can further enlarge its coalition but it cannot assemble the Nigerian people by force of political influence.

“Elections are not won by the size of a campaign council or the number of powerful figures gathered.

“They are won by the confidence of citizens who must ultimately decide whether their lives have improved under the government seeking their votes,” the campaign organisation said, adding that the ultimate verdict of deciding Nigerians next president belongs to the people, and no presidential campaign council, however imposing, can stand between a disillusioned people and their determination for a change through the ballot.
