An unidentified vehicle has caught fire on the 3rd Mainland Bridge in Lagos State.
A viral video captured a flipped vehicle burning furiously on the bridge a few minutes ago. An X user identified as Rotus shared two videos on his Twitter handle.
He made the tweet around 12:21pm today, 9th October 2026, while passing on the 3rd Mainland Bridge.
Rotus said the flipped, burning vehicle was heading towards the mainland before it caught fire.
Rotus tweeted, “12:21pm. Friday, October 9th. Burning vehicle on 3rd mainland bridge heading towards the mainland #Fire #Lagos”
The vehicle has yet to be moved as of this report.
Earlier today, the operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, and security personnel saved a 55-year-old man from being crushed by a moving train in Lagos.
This collision occurred at the PWD railway line, involving a moving train travelling inward to Agege and a Honda EKY 902JT car.
The Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, said the collision inflicted irreparable damage on the car, rendering it a complete write-off. He noted that the motorist escaped without injury, and no casualties were reported.
The department cautioned the public against crossing railway tracks when a train is approaching or already in motion, reiterating that disregarding railway safety protocols could cause devastating and irreversible consequences.
