2027: 1,200 Benefit as JDS Mobilises Support for Tinubu

About 1,200 people across Afijio, Atiba, Oyo East and Oyo West Local Government area of Oyo State, on Thursday benefited from the 2026 edition of the JDS Free Medical and Palliative Outreach.

Hosted under the JDS Renewed Hope Movement For PBAT 2027, the event,
held inside the Oba Adeyemi Stadium Arcade, Akesan, Oyo township, combine healthcare assistance with grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general election.

The programme was JDS Renewed Hope for PBAT 2027 and funded by a business mogul and philanthropist, Chief Dr. Jubril Dotun Sanusi, the Gbonka Olubadan of Ibadanland, to provide free medical examinations, medication and palliative support for vulnerable residents across the state.

Speaking at the event, the Director-General of the JDS Renewed Hope Movement for PBAT 2027 and JDS Free Medical and Palliative initiative, Prince Adeyemo Amosun, popularly known as Echo Kingsman, said the outreach was in its fourth edition and had been conducted annually since 2023.

Amosun explained that the initiative was designed to support vulnerable people and provide basic healthcare assistance to communities across Oyo State.

He said the programme was not established solely for political purposes or in response to the approaching 2027 general election, stressing that it had been sustained since before the last general election.

“We are not just doing this because of politics or because an election is near. We have been doing this since 2023. We do this every year for the 33 local governments in Oyo State,” he said.

According to him, the intervention reflects Dr Sanusi’s belief that individuals and organisations must contribute to community welfare rather than leave the responsibility entirely to the government.

“You can’t stay at home and think that the government will do everything for us,” he said, while crediting Sanusi with providing the financial resources required to sustain the annual initiative, describing him as its principal supporter.

He expressed appreciation to Sanusi for his continued commitment to the welfare of residents, while praying for his long life and good health.

The director-general said the outreach was being implemented across the state’s geopolitical zones to ensure that residents in different communities could benefit.

He disclosed that the team had completed its activities in Oke-Ogun, covering 10 local government areas; Ogbomoso, comprising five local government areas; and Ibarapa, with three local government areas.

The Oyo zone outreach covered Oyo East, Oyo West, Atiba and Afijio local government areas, with the programme scheduled to move to Ibadan’s 11 local government areas after a brief break. Amosun said the Ibadan phase was scheduled to resume on October 20, 2026.

Amosun said the initiative provides a platform for engaging residents at the grassroots, with the provision of healthcare and palliative assistance taking place alongside expressions of support for the president and other APC aspirants in Oyo State.

He, however, maintained that the annual programme predated the current election cycle and would continue beyond the 2027 polls.

He added that beneficiaries at the Oyo outreach would receive free medical examinations and appropriate medication, alongside palliatives intended to provide relief to people facing economic hardship.

In his remarks, the senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, Dr. Yunus Akintunde, commended Sanusi for his philanthropic efforts, describing his interventions as a contribution to the welfare of residents and grassroots development in Oyo State.

Akintunde who arrived at the event with the member representing Oyo East/Oyo West/Afijio/Atiba federal constituency, also expressed appreciation to Sanusi on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC aspirants in the state for his continued support and generosity.

In a chat with journalists, the senator described Sanusi as a brother, friend and colleague, as well as staunch supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, recalling his financial contributions to support market women across the 11 local government areas in Ibadan.

According to the senator, Sanusi had earlier donated N25 million on his behalf to market women, followed by another N25 million at a later date.

“This is another programme, and he will not relent. On the 17th, when they are declaring the results, there will be another programme as well. I can tell you we appreciate you, and we will always be with you,” he said.

Akintunde urged residents to reciprocate Sanusi’s philanthropic gestures, calling on them to support APC candidates across elective positions in the 2027 general election.

“My message to the people is to reciprocate good with good, goodness for goodness, good for good. If someone has done good to you, I think you should reciprocate by doing good to them. What we expect from them is to vote APC from top to down, from down to top,” Akintunde said.

The outreach also has a political dimension through the JDS Renewed Hope Movement’s, as stakeholders, including Him Akeem Adeyemi, chairmen of the All Progressives Congress across the four LGs and House of Assembly aspirants reiterate support for Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

The Oyo phase covered four local government areas, namely Oyo East, Oyo West, Atiba and Afijio, as the organisers continued their statewide initiative to extend medical and welfare assistance to vulnerable residents.

Speaking on the impact of the initiative, former speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Asimiyu Alarape, who doubles as Vice Chairman of Tinubu/Alli commended Sanusi for extending the medical outreach to the area, describing it as a significant intervention for residents requiring medical attention.

Alarape said the programme targeted 200 beneficiaries from each of the four local government areas, bringing the number of intended beneficiaries under that arrangement to 800. He added that approximately 400 members of the GDS would also benefit, bringing the projected total to about 1,200 people.

According to him, the programme also incorporated eye care support for beneficiaries, alongside other medical services provided during the outreach.

“As you can see, it’s going smoothly, and we expect that in no distant time, they are going to finish this one and go away. We are happy, and we thank Dr. Sanusi for extending this to Oyo Zone,” Alarape said.

He noted that Sanusi’s intervention through the GDS initiative was understood to cover the entire state, expressing appreciation for the support being extended to residents.

Alarape prayed for God’s continued guidance and protection for Sanusi, as well as the replenishment of his financial resources to enable him to sustain the humanitarian efforts.

He also linked the outreach to the political mobilisation efforts of the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressing confidence in the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the electoral prospects of other party candidates.

He said the beneficiaries and the wider community stood to gain from the initiative, while calling for continued support for the programme and its organisers.
