Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has approved the appointment of Barrister Richard Agu as Commissioner-Designate for the Enugu State Ministry of Transport.
Agu, who currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Enugu Air, will assume the proposed ministerial portfolio subject to his screening and confirmation by the Enugu State House of Assembly.
The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, disclosed the appointment in a statement issued on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
According to the statement, Agu’s name has been forwarded to the State House of Assembly in accordance with the provisions of the law for the required screening and confirmation.
The appointment places Agu, who has been serving as chairman of the board of the state-owned Enugu Air, in line for a role in the administration’s transport sector.
His confirmation by the lawmakers will determine his formal assumption of office as Commissioner for Transport.
